Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville Parking Study Task Force invite you to a virtual community meeting to kick off the Citywide Parking and Curb Use Study.

The Citywide Parking and Curb Use Study will collect data to comprehensively understand Somerville’s parking system and develop recommendations to guide the City in bringing its parking policies in alignment with its goals, community values, and future needs. 

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, the Somerville Commission for Women, and RESPOND Inc. invite residents to join them for the annual Domestic Violence Vigil on Tuesday, October 26, to remember and honor those who lost their lives to domestic violence in 2021. Due to rain, the vigil will now take place in the atrium at the West Branch Library, 40 College Avenue, from 6 to 7 p.m. Note that masks are required indoors.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and City staff invite you to a virtual kickoff to envision a new 90 Washington Street. Join this meeting on Monday, December 13, at 6 p.m. to provide input on the Public Safety Building project and talk with community members and neighbors about the opportunities on the rest of the site. What would you like to see here? What are your concerns? How can we create a cohesive site that also connects with the rest of the neighborhood?

The City of Somerville is hosting two Veterans Day ceremonies to honor those who have served in the military.

Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street ― 10 a.m.

The first event will take place Thursday, November 11, at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street. Speaking remarks will begin at 10 a.m. featuring City Council President Matthew McLaughlin and Somerville Director of Veterans’ Services Ted Louis-Jacques. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

The City of Somerville is seeking applicants for one open position on the Somerville Conservation Commission.  

The Somerville Elections Department would like to inform all Somerville voters that the ballots for the 2021 general election do not include the usual notation indicating which candidates are incumbents seeking re-election. The incumbents are correctly listed first in order on the ballots; however, they are not identified as “candidates for re-election,” as is standard. 

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 1 Councilor Matt McLaughlin, Ward 3 Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen, and Ward 4 Councilor Jesse Clingan invite you to a virtual community meeting to discuss proposed streetscape changes in Gilman Square.

This meeting will primarily focus on the feasibility study for constructing an accessible path from Marshall Street to the Medford Street bridge and Community Path, as well as options for protected bicycle lanes on Medford Street and Pearl Street from School Street to Skilton Avenue. 

Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Ward 7 Councilor and Mayor-elect Katjana Ballantyne invite you to a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly renovated Dilboy Stadium Track and Field on Friday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m.  

Somerville’s free community digital fabrication lab, FabVille, is now open for in-person use at Somerville High School (SHS).

FabVille provides all Somerville residents with free workspace and access to 3D printers, laser cutters, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to inspire innovative design and prototyping. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. for SHS students and faculty and from 5 to 8 p.m. for community members. Before visiting, all participants must sign up for a free membership at FabVille.org.
