What is ArtFarm?

What is ArtFarm?

ArtFarm is an experiment. ArtFarm is Somerville’s proposal for our next great public space: a self-sustaining art and urban agriculture laboratory designed to foster community engagement and creativity. We are working to turn a former waste transfer station into a thriving open space.

Innovation City and iFund

The Innovation City program is intended to grow the supportive environments for Somerville micro-businesses incorporating innovation into their business model. In 2024 the program was used in partnership with MassDevelopment and others to support the continued growth of Greentown Labs in Somerville, North America’s largest climate technology incubator.

Vision Zero Reporting

Annual Key Performance Indicators

Every winter, the Mobility Division publishes an annual progress report on our key performance indicators. We dig into trends for transit ridership, pedestrian, bike, and motor vehicle traffic, collected speed data, Bluebikes ridership, and reported crash data. We also report on key safety deliverables such as traffic calming installations and newly constructed safety and comfort improvements.

Heat Pump FAQs

What is an air source heat pump and how does it work?

Air source heat pumps are appliances that provide heating and cooling by moving heat into a building (for heating) or out of a building (for cooling). Heat pumps do not create heat, they just move heat from one place to another.
