Somerville Sharing Updated Community Choice Electricity Program Rates

The City of Somerville is pleased to announce that the Community Choice Electricity (CCE) program continues to offer competitive and stable rates for residents and businesses. As of August 1, 2025, Eversource’s basic residential electricity rate will increase to 14.884 cents per kilowatt-hour (¢/kWh), slightly higher than the City’s default CCE Local Green rate of 14.840 ¢/kWh.

Court Hearing Held on Massachusetts Sanctuary Cities’ Challenge to Federal Funding Threats

Boston Federal Court Hears Injunction Request from Somerville and Chelsea, Mass.

Two sanctuary Cities in Massachusetts—Somerville and Chelsea—had their first hearing in federal court today on the filing of a preliminary injunction asking a federal court to block the Trump Administration’s attempts to strip them of federal funding because they refuse to be coerced into participating in the Administration’s mass deportation efforts.

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, the Somerville Police Department, and Somerville Parks and Recreation invite Somerville residents to a fun-filled evening of community connection at Somerville’s annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 5, at Dilboy Stadium (110 Alewife Brook Parkway) from 5 to 8 p.m. (rain date: Wednesday, August 6).
