Women's Commission - Coalition Building Subcommittee Meeting

Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, this meeting of the Somerville Commission for Women may be conducted via remote participation.

Music & Munch (Council on Aging)

This one-hour session will treat you to a playlist of diverse musical offerings: a little jazz, some "oldies but goodies, " a smidgen of classical, a dip into barbershop, a trip to Broadway. The music is taped but the experience is live. Your guide is Somerville Resident, Laura Zoll, trained as a medieval musicologist and with a life-long love of all things musical.

Senior Social Gathering (in Spanish language)

Stepping Up Your Nutrition (Council on Aging)

This eight week series will focus on ways we can each step up our nutrition. Topics will include: the importance of muscles for strength, key nutrients for older adults, particularly protein and fluid, knowing how nutrition affects the risks of falling and how to determine personal nutrition for a better lifestyle.

Add some movement to your day! 

General Exercise is a chair-based fitness class with supported standing strength training and balance. We use a play ball, weights and resistance band to work on functional movement patterns. Enjoy moving to music while doing easy-to-follow cardio, mobility, strengthening and stretching exercises.

Virtual General Exercise (Council on Aging)

Enjoy SCOA’s signature General Exercise class in the comfort of your home! Simply click a zoom link to join the live class online. This is a chair-based workout with the option to use light handheld weights and do supported standing strength and balance activities. Enjoy easy-to-follow cardio, strength training, mobility, and flexibility patterns.
