Eastern Flow in the Park (Council on Aging)

Enjoy exercising in nature in this Outdoor Eastern Flow class! Connect mind, body, and spirit while getting into a state of Flow. Finding flow moves us toward finding an effortless clarity and euphoria that can transform lives. Traditional Eastern movements from martial arts and nature are explored, but in a modern way.

21st Annual What the Fluff? Festival

What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Innovation, a far-out festival honoring the invention of Marshmallow Fluff, returns to Union Square in Somerville on Saturday, September 19 from 1-5pm (severe weather date Sunday, September 20). Come play, delight in your food, and raise a glass to Union Square as What the Fluff? turns 21!

Add some movement to your day! General Exercise is a chair-based fitness class with supported standing strength training and balance. We’ll use a variety of props such as a play ball, resistance band, and weights to practice functional movement patterns. Enjoy moving to music while doing easy-to follow cardio, mobility, strengthening and stretching exercises.

Join us for this staff-led discussion group which covers a range of topics thought up by participants. This is a friendly group, where all topics are discussed respectfully. 

Grab-n-Go lunch is available upon request.  We need a weeks notice if you would like a Grab-n-Go lunch.

Incorporating all food groups into our diets is a great way to create proper balance. Knowing how much of each food group to eat, can be confusing but knowing your body fat and body mass index can help understand what you need.

This is a chair-based workout with the option to use light handheld weights and do supported standing strength and balance activities. Enjoy easy-to follow cardio, strength training, mobility, and flexibility patterns.

Join the signature SCOA class in the East Somerville area. We’ll use a play ball, resistance band, and handheld weights to do seated exercises with optional standing strength and balance activities. Enjoy music while doing easy-to-follow functional movements that help support an independent and active lifestyle.

Until Help Arrives Training

These workshops are designed to prepare people without professional medical training to take lifesaving action during the critical minutes before first responders arrive. No prior training or experience is required. The series is presented by the Somerville Office of Emergency Management, and is an initiative supported by FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency).
