LOCATION
First observed in 1979, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is a day to honor returned prisoners of war and those members of the U.S. military, as well as civilians, who are still missing and unaccounted for from past wars. The day also serves to support ongoing search efforts for the missing.
“It is crucial that we continue to honor the sacrifices that all of our members of the military make,” Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone said. “We must never forget those who suffered unimaginable events as prisoners of war or those who still haven’t returned home. It is our responsibility to remember them always and show our support for their still-grieving families.”
The brief ceremony is open to the public.
