The City of Somerville Tree Warden invites all interested residents and community members to a public hearing on Wednesday, May 2, to discuss upcoming tree removal as part of the construction process for the Somerville Ave. Utility & Streetscape Improvements Project. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. in the Academy Room at the Public Safety Building, 220 Washington St. Any objections to their removal must be submitted in writing prior to or during the hearing. Written objections should be addressed to Somerville Tree Warden, and emailed to: trees@somervillema.gov, or mailed to: 1 Franey Rd., Somerville, MA. 02145. Note: This is the second public hearing; however, the same information will be covered at this hearing. No new information will be presented or discussed. The Somerville Ave. Utility and Streetscape Improvements project funding was approved on December 14, 2017, and construction began in April 2018. The project addresses legacy storm water flooding issues in and around Union Square as well as streetscape improvements on Somerville Ave. between the Bow St./Washington St. intersection and Medford St.
