LOCATION
The July 4th Fireworks are canceled, yet we will still celebrate! Mayor Joseph Curtatone and the Somerville Arts Council invite the community to participate in a social distance bike and car parade. Participate in the parade by decorating your vehicles and bikes in all things patriotic! Lights, flags, banners, and music. Take this as an opportunity to celebrate your 2020 Grads, shine light on the Black Lives Matter movement, or to shout out your Somerville Pride! We’re looking for the razzle-dazzle, weirdness, and creativity that Somerville is known for. So go nuts decorating your bike, trick out your Prius, fire up your hotrod, jumpstart your art bike/car and participate!
Logistics and How to Participate
We will stage the event at 7:30 in a parking lot. Vehicles and bikes will ride along a route through Somerville neighborhoods from 8–9 p.m.; bikes will lead the parade. We will ensure all safety protocol is met. To participate, email imenjivar@somervillema.gov by Sunday, June 28th. Include a description of your vehicle and bike and/or decor plan, contact and mailing address (must be Somerville residents), and your first and last name.
