The City of Somerville is hosting two Veterans Day ceremonies to honor those who have served in the military.

Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street ― 10 a.m.

The first event will take place Thursday, November 11, at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Broadway at North Street. Speaking remarks will begin at 10 a.m. featuring City Council President Matthew McLaughlin and Somerville Director of Veterans’ Services Ted Louis-Jacques. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow. Members of the public are welcome to attend.  

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the CityTV Facebook page (facebook.com/SomervilleCityTV) and broadcast after the event on GovTV (RCN channels 13 or 613; Comcast channel 22) and on the City’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/SomervilleCityTV).

Milk Row Cemetery on Somerville Ave. ― 2:30 to 3 p.m. (View flyer)

The Somerville Museum, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, and others will commemorate the Somerville veterans buried at or commemorated by the 1863 Civil War Monument in Milk Row Cemetery. A brief ceremony, accompanied by a bugler, will be held at this historic site. Thursday, November 11, 2021, 2:30-3 p.m. at Milk Row Cemetery (439 Somerville Ave., next to Market Basket). The event is free and open to the public and the site is ADA accessible.
