What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Innovation is a madcap festival honoring the invention of Marshmallow Fluff. It celebrates Somerville’s proud tradition of innovation with live music, fluffalicious feasts, sticky games, zany happenings, and much more happening Saturday, September 17 from 3-7pm in Union Square (rain date Sunday, September 18). Like peanut butter to its Fluff, the world can be salty and sweet. This year’s theme — Fluff at First Sight: Back on Track — hits the streets in its traditional festival format and scoops a spoonful of Somerville to help life’s absurdities go down. For a sweet remedy to construction cones, cabin fever, and feeling like you’re living life in a quarantine meme, all aboard to Union Square and fall in love with Fluff all over again. We promise this What the Fluff? will feel like the first time. So strut your Somerville pride and bike, bus, or boogie to Union Square to fill your cup – and hearts – with deliciously diverse food, performances, and family-friendly games with flufftastic neighbors near and far. Swipe right on Fluff Fest! What the Fluff? is brought to you by Union Square Main Streets, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with a mission to preserve the unique character and advance the strength of the Union Square business district and community in partnership with the Somerville Arts Council.
Event takes place on Union Square Plaza, on Somerville Ave between Prospect and Webster Streets.
