Groundbreaking Ceremony for Glen Park Community Garden Expansion

The City of Somerville will kick-off of the construction of the Glen Park Community Garden expansion on November 20th. We hope you will join us in celebrating more inclusive access to community gardening amenities in Somerville.

This project began in 2017 with the acquisition of a residential property with the intention of expanding the existing community garden at Glen Park. After demolishing the house, completing design, and hiring a contractor, we are now ready to begin construction. The new garden will feature 18 raised beds with different levels of accessibility (including accessible beds for gardeners in a wheelchair), a new shed, new spigots, and a renovated gathering area outside of the garden. Support and funding come from the Community Preservation Commission with funds from the Community Preservation Act and the Community Development Block Grant Program.
