LOCATION
The Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs (SOIA), in proud partnership with the Brazilian Women’s Group, invites community members to celebrate 204 years of Brazilian independence at the fourth annual Brazilian flag raising on Thursday, September 10, at 3 p.m. on the Somerville City Hall concourse (93 Highland Ave). The rain date is Monday, September 14.
The event will feature remarks from Mayor Jake Wilson, the Consulate General of Brazil in Boston, representatives of the Brazilian Women’s Group, and SOIA staff. Attendees will enjoy live music and performances of the national anthems of Brazil and the United States, followed by the ceremonial raising of the Brazilian flag. Light refreshments and resources from local Brazilian organizations will also be available.

O Prefeito Jake Wilson, o Grupo Mulher Brasileira e o Escritório para Assuntos de Imigrantes (SOIA) convidam a comunidade para celebrar os 204 anos da
Independência do Brasil no 4º Hasteamento da Bandeira em Somerville! O evento faz parte da programação do Festival da Independência, organizado pelo Grupo Mulher Brasileira, e acontecerá na quinta-feira, 10 de setembro, às 15h, em frente ao prédio da Prefeitura de Somerville (93 Highland Ave.). Venham celebrar conosco, saborear um pão de queijo, aprender sobre recursos disponíveis e demonstrar todo o seu apoio à nossa comunidade! Em caso de chuva, o hasteamento será no mesmo horário, na segunda, 14 de setembro. Neste ano, teremos uma participação especial: o coral dos estudantes da High School de Somerville! Vocês não podem perder!
