Rainwater collection and reuse helps save money on your water bill and also helps to reduce stormwater runoff responsible for flooding during rain. A single rain barrel can save as much as 1,700 gallons during the summer season in New England. Typically, for every inch of rain received, about 600 gallons of water can drain from every 1,000-square-foot roof area.
