LOCATION

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone would like to invite all interested community members to participate in the “2nd Annual Mayor’s Fitness Challenge”.  The program, which will kick off with an event at the Somerville High School gymnasium on Saturday, April 2nd from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  The program will incorporate both a Team Fitness Challenge, as well as a non-competitive “Lifestyle Pledge”. Individuals who enroll in the team challenge will earn points for weight loss and changes in Body Mass Index (BMI), while those signing onto the Lifestyle Pledge only will not be issued points.  The kickoff event will include showcase fitness demonstration such as Zumba and weight training, a Farmer’s Markets; the ability to plant your own vegetables, face painting other recreation programming for children and adults of all ages.  Throughout the program, teams and individuals will earn discounts to local restaurants and businesses  More information about the program will be made available prior to the kickoff event, and can also be obtained by calling Director of Community Relations, Carlene Campbell, at 617-625-6600 x2615, or CCampbell@somervillema.gov.
