Please join Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville High School
Gay-Straight Alliance in raising the Pride flag at City Hall in honor of
Pride month. The ceremony will be at 2:45 PM on the City Hall
concourse, on May 29th. The mayor, the LGBT Liaison to the City of
Somerville, and a representative from SHS’s GSA will offer remarks.

Last year, over 60 people, including students, school staff, elected
officials, City staff, and community members, attended the flag raising.
This was twice as many as attended in 2012. This event is a way to show
support for Somerville’s LGBT community, especially its students.
Somerville has been raising the Pride flag since 2000, when the
tradition started under Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay.

Residents and officials gather for the raising of the Pride Flag.
