LOCATION
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) invites you to attend a public meeting to discuss MassDEP’s testing for possible soil contamination associated with the former Kiley Barrel facility and evaluation of background conditions in the surrounding neighborhood. The Kiley Barrel facility once occupied several parcels along and proximate to Bennett Street from the 1920s to 1989, and operations primarily consisted of cleaning and refurbishing used barrels. Soil testing conducted at the former Kiley Barrel site, as well as a few abutting residential properties, has identified several contaminants that could be from the former Kiley Barrel operations. The goal of additional testing is to determine the extent of surficial soil contamination associated with the Kiley Barrel site and evaluate the need for remedial response actions.
