The City of Somerville is pleased to announce the next
community meeting for the
Central Broadway Streetscape Improvements Project,
held by the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning and
Community Development and part of the Somerville by Design process.

The meeting will be take place on Wednesday, September
10, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the
Arthur D.
Healey School, 5 Meacham Street in Somerville
The
meeting will be held in the cafeteria.

The project team will provide a project update to explain the
results of the
traffic analysis and present preliminary concepts for Central Broadway. The
presentation will be followed by an open house where you can view the
preliminary concepts in more detail, ask questions of our engineers, landscape
architects, and planners, and give feedback on what you see as
the vision for the future of Central Broadway in Winter
Hill.

The Central Broadway/Winter Hill Streetscape
Project is studying existing conditions, issues, and opportunities and preparing
a streetscape design that improves the safety and functionality of the corridor
for all modes of travel. The project runs along Broadway from and including the
Route 28/McGrath Highway intersection to just east of Magoun Square. The goal
of the redesign is to enhance, accessibility, safety, appearance, and sense of
community while preserving the unique characteristics of this active and
dynamic corridor. This project will be part of the Winter Hill neighborhood plan
now underway and is part of the Somerville by Design planning model, which directly involves residents in a creative process to develop solutions
for their neighborhood, incorporating continuous feedback, refinement, and
recommendations.

If you are unable to attend the meeting but want to learn more about
the project, please visit the
project website and sign up for the mailing list.
