Electricity Disclosure Label Now Available for Somerville Community Choice Electricity Program

Somerville’s Community Choice Electricity (CCE) program has posted the latest Electricity Disclosure Label, which describes the energy mix for all program options. The label can be found in the resources section on the program website CCE.SomervilleMA.gov.

Somerville Police Investigate An Armed Robbery

On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Somerville Police responded to a business located in East Somerville for a report of an armed robbery and indecent assault, and battery.  Police met with a female store clerk who told police that she noticed the robbery suspect pacing back and forth while peering in the store window moments before entering the store where he displayed a handgun during the robbery.  The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk and fled the area on foot.

Somerville Climate Forward Program Seeks Ambassadors to Join the Fight Against Climate Change

Applications to Become a Paid Climate Forward Ambassador Will Be Accepted Until January 2, 2023

The City of Somerville is seeking community members aged 16 years or older to participate in the 2023 Climate Forward Ambassadors program. Potential members should be interested in learning more, as well as educating others, about climate change, environmental justice and equity, and Somerville’s Climate Forward Plan.

Somerville Publishes Draft Bicycle Network Plan

Plan Establishes Vision for an 88-Mile Network of Connected Bike Facilities Citywide

After a year of community engagement, data analysis, and policy research, the City of Somerville has published a draft of Somerville’s first Bicycle Network Plan. The Bicycle Network Plan is a visioning document intended to guide the next few decades of work to improve and expand Somerville’s bicycle facilities.

School Street Bridge Reopens Saturday, December 10

Ahead of the Green Line Extension opening next week, the School Street bridge in Somerville’s Gilman Square is expected to reopen to all users this Saturday, December 10. The bridge has been closed since April 2020 to support GLX construction.

When the bridge reopens, Montrose Street will revert to one-way westbound traffic. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should proceed with caution while navigating the new traffic pattern. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
