SOMERVILLE - Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone
and Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston invite all interested community members to a
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the reopening of the Quincy Street Park on
Thursday, January 24th from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. The ceremony marks the
completion of extensive renovations at the open space on Quincy Street, located
between Somerville Avenue and Summer Street just outside Union Square.  Refreshments will be served.

SOMERVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES DIGITIZATION OF HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS

19th and 20th Century Official City Documents Now Available through Library Database

SOMERVILLE - The City of Somerville
and the Somerville Public Library (SPL) are proud to announce the digitization
of historical records from the files of the City's past. Thanks to a
partnership with the Boston Public Library and Digital Commonwealth, a State
repository service for historical documents, the official full-text Annual
Reports of the City from 1843 to 1925 can be accessed free through the Internet
Archive. This archive is a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural
artifacts in digital form.

Beacon Street Community Meeting - 1/28

Growers announced this week the launch of the Urban Agriculture Ambassador
Program as part of the City's larger Urban Agriculture Initiative. The

SOMERVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY UNVEILS “AWESOME BOX” PROJECT

Partnership with Harvard University Innovation Lab Helps Residents Share “Awesome” Ideas at Public Libraries

SOMERVILLE - The Somerville Public
Library, in a partnership with the Harvard Library Innovation Lab, is launching
the "Awesome Box" project at all three library branches in early February. The
first municipal partnership of its kind, the "Awesome Box" will allow patrons
to share "awesome" book suggestions with fellow readers by depositing checked
books into the Box rather than into the regular "Returns" bin.  "Awesome" books will be linked to a website
for community members to learn about and explore potential book titles.

Sign-Up Challenge" from the Town of Arlington and Arlington Public. The

New Meditation Program Offers Free Public Sessions

SOMERVILLE- Director
of the Somerville Public Libraries, Maria Carpenter, announced today a new
initiative to introduce wellness programs at the Somerville Public Library.   Consistent with the City's mission to create
a healthy, active community, the new SPL initiative will begin with two
"mindfulness and stress management" meditation sessions on Thursday, February
21st and Thursday, February 28th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

MAYOR, CITY DELEGATION TO DELIVER DONATIONS TO HURRICANE VICTIMS IN NJ THIS WEEKEN

Thanks to Donations from Residents, Local Businesses, Market Basket and Stop & Shop, City Delegation will Deliver a Truck Load of Items to Residents along Jersey Shore; NJ Residents Continue Cleanup, Seek Homes in Wake of Hurricane Sandy

SOMERVILLE- Following a local donation drive spanning
several months, Mayor Curtatone and a delegation of City staff will travel to
the New Jersey coast this weekend to deliver a truck load of supplies to
victims of October's Hurricane Sandy.  In
a partnership with the communities of Somerville, New Jersey and Summerville, South
Carolina, the City of Somerville, Massachusetts collected cleaning supplies,
food, and other items needed by victims in New Jersey to assist with cleanup
