Central Hill Campus Plan Community Meeting

Note: To reach Somerville High School cafeteria, please enter through the main entrance. You will not be able to reach the cafeteria through the Field House entrance.

Central Hill Campus Plan Public Meeting
The City of Somerville is developing a campus plan for Central Hill, home to City Hall, Somerville High School, the Central Library, and Central Playground. Please join us on Tuesday, September 25, at 6 p.m. for a meeting in the High School cafeteria to help shape the plan. Our project consultants, SMMA, will present three ideas for the design of Central Hill for public input.
Free Yoga at Prospect Hill Park

Some.Yoga.Studio is partnering with the City of Somerville and School Wellness Committees to bring free yoga to Prospect Hill Park every Tuesday this September.

Bring your mat or a towel and come join us at 4pm to ring in the fall and a new school year with Some.Yoga.

GLX Community Meeting to Discuss Upcoming Bridge Closures
Although timelines are subject to change, current plans for construction of the Green Line Extension (GLX) call for the full closure of the Broadway Bridge, just east of Ball Square, for one full year beginning in January 2019. While the bridge is closed, detours will be in place for cars, bikes, pedestrians, and MBTA bus routes 80 and 89.

This is a public meeting of the Somerville HS School Building Committee. 

Union Sq. Landscape: Looking Forward and Backward
Join the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission, ArtsUnion, and Shape Up Somerville for a free walking tour of historic Union Square. The tour will step off from at 2:30 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. at Aeronaut Brewing, 14 Tyler St. The tour will be led by Ed Gordon, New England Chapter President of the Victorian Society in America. RSVP is requested due to limited space.

13th Annual What the Fluff? Festival

Mark your calendar for Fluff the 13th on Saturday, September 22, 2018 (rain date: Sunday, September 23)!

The 13th annual “What the Fluff” Festival will feature musical performances, a cooking contest, Fluff-themed games, activities, antics and fun for every age, and Fluff treats of every sort. Stay tuned for more details to come.

POW-MIA Flag Raising and Remembrance Ceremony

Please join Mayor Joseph Curtatone and Veterans’ Commissioner Bryan Bishop as we raise the POW-MIA flag and remember those brave Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who served as Prisoners of War or are considered Missing In Action. The ceremony will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the City Hall Concourse (93 Highland Ave.).

Somerville Arts Council Grant Writing Workshop
The Somerville Arts Council is pleased to announce the availability of its 2019 Local Cultural Council (LCC) grant program. Artists, community groups, and schools may apply for funding to the Council for projects and fellowships for 2019. The deadline for submissions is October 15, 2018.
