Music & Movement with Steve (Council on Aging)

More entertaining than exercise. More energizing than a performance. 

Come join for an energetic combination of live music, chair-based movement, music history, trivia, and community.

Participation is encouraged but all are welcome to just sit and enjoy! 

Bilingual Senior Bingo (Spanish and Portuguese)

Join us for a fun afternoon, meet new friends and talk to our staff!

Korean Martial Arts Soo Bahk Do (Council on Aging)

Soo Bahk Do is a Korean martial art that develops confidence, discipline and self-control. This class will focus on learning the basics of traditional form and self-defense techniques. Seniors taking this class will work toward improving flexibility, mobility, balance, and awareness.

Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, this public meeting will be conducted via remote participation.

General Exercise - Holland Street (Council on Aging)

Add some movement to your day! General Exercise is a chair-based fitness class with supported standing strength training and balance. We use a play ball, weights and resistance band to work on functional movement patterns. Enjoy moving to music while doing easy-to-follow cardio, mobility, strengthening and stretching exercises.

Orchid 101 (Council on Aging)

Orchids are beautiful flowers that are often misunderstood. In this presentation, Alexandra will teach us how to property care for orchids so that they can thrive in our homes for years to come.

Pottery Class (Council on Aging)

The COA welcomes back Fern, owner of Commonwealth Clayworks. During class we will glaze premade cups. Cups will be fired and returned in two weeks. 

Space is very limited, preference will be given to Somerville residents.

Walking Club (Council on Aging)

Connect with friends new and old while spending time out in nature. This group walks at a moderate pace and is a great way to add movement to your day. Explore nature trails and the streets of Somerville for an enjoyable journey! 

Walking Club - Thursdays at 9:00am, no walking club on July 9th.

Bingo at Holland Street (Council on Aging)

Bingo starts at 10:00 a.m. 

Lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. 

All are welcome! Registration is required. 

You will need to register on a weekly basis. 

Coffee & Conversation Holland Street (Council on Aging)

Join us for this staff-led discussion group which covers a range of topics thought up by participants. This is a friendly group, where all topics are discussed respectfully.

This is a chair-based workout with the option to use light handheld weights and do supported standing strength and balance activities. Enjoy easy-to-follow cardio, strength training, mobility, and flexibility patterns.

Age Thrive / Urbanity Dance (Council on Aging)

Movement, music, and community; designed for older adults at every level of ability. Urbanity Dance is a nonprofit arts organization, and its mission is to empower individuals and communities through movement. Age Thrive is a class for seniors and built around the idea that it’s never too late to move, connect, and have fun.

Virtual Small Business Office Hours

Virtually join the Small Business Office Hours,  held Thursdays from 4:00-5:00PM. Join in to talk to city staff from Economic Development, Licensing, and ISD to discuss any questions regarding permits, licenses, or your business. Attendees will be held in a waiting room and admitted to speak with staff in order of which they joined the call. 

Somerville Mobile Farmers Market

The market will be open Thursdays through Saturdays, and will run through October 31.

LGBTQIA+ Monthly Social (Council on Aging)

Virtual LGBTQIA+ General Exercise (Council on Aging)

This is an online version of the General Exercise class that welcomes the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. Enjoy seated exercises with the option to use dumbbells and work on standing strength and balance. This easy-to-follow workout focuses on functional fitness to maintain an independent lifestyle.
