The Somerville Elections Department oversees all local, state, and federal elections, registers voters, and keeps election-related public records, including campaign finance reports. Mark Your Calendar

Key election dates to remember:
  • Friday, October 24th: Voter registration deadline for the general Election by mail or in person by 5 P.M. or online until midnight.
  • Monday, October 27th: Campaign Finance Report deadline for the City Election By 5 P.M.
  • Monday October 27th (if necessary) thru Monday November 3rd: Election Department will be removing Municipal Election mail-in and in-person early voted ballots for all precincts from their envelopes and depositing these ballots into a tabulator at City Hall to be tabulated on Election Night. Note: This is a public process.
  • Deadline to submit applications for an Early voting by mail or Absentee Ballot
    • October 28th: Early Voting Hours - 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
    • October 29th: Early Voting Hours - 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
    • October 30th: Early Voting Hours - 8:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M.
  • Monday, November 3rd: Noon deadline to vote in person as an absentee voter for voters who qualify legally (MGL 54:89 & 54:86)
  • Tuesday, November 4th: MUNICIPAL ELECTION 7 A.M. - 8 P.M. (hours for all all 32 Polling locations)
  • Friday, November 14th: Last day for filing Recount Petitions by 5 P.M.
  • Monday, January 19th 2026: Year End Campaign Finance Report deadline by 5 P.M.

ADA Information

Automark Voting Machines are available at each polling location. These voting machines will mark ballots based on verbal cues from the voter.

All voters may request assistance in completing a ballot with the Polling Location Warden or Somerville Police Officer at the location.

Braille Embossed and large print copies of all three ballot questions will be available for review at all polling locations. Updated Braille embossed and large print charter summaries are available at all library branches and the City Hall 311 desk.

Campaign Finance and Other Public Records

Annual City Census

Somerville residents who do not return the annual City Census form sent out each January could be removed from the list of registered voters. Completing the Census within 10 days of receipt also provides proof of residence to protect your voting rights, veteran's bonus, subsidized housing, and related benefits as well as providing information for the selection of jurors.
