Brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine hit the charts with their first big hit and ingrained their group The Beach Boys as an American icon. The Beach Boys constructed the most intricate, gorgeous harmonies ever heard from a pop band. With Brian’s studio proficiency growing by leaps and bounds during the mid-’60s, the Beach Boys also proved one of the best-produced groups of the ‘60s. Through the 60’s the Beatles and Beach Boys battled it out on for the top of the charts. The group amassed over eighty songs that hit the music charts worldwide, thirty-six of them United States Top 40 hits (the most by an American band), four reaching number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Beach Boys have sold in excess of 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time and are listed at number 12 on the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. The Driftwoods have been performing the greatest hits of the Beach Boys for over 20 years.
