Women Veterans Invited to Wellness Day and Appreciation Event on March 5

To the women who serve and have served our country with courage and strength, we honor you. As a sincere thank you from the Somerville community and in celebration of Women’s History Month, the City’s Department of Veterans’ Services invites women veterans to a Wellness and Appreciation Day on Thursday, March 5. Attendees are invited to select from an array of free spa services including manicures, facials, haircuts, and wash and styles.

The way news of the Somerville Arts Council reorganization became public was not how I intended for it to happen. You deserved to hear this from me first, with full explanation, and you didn't. I'm sorry for the alarm that caused, and I want to set the record straight: we are not pulling back from the arts. We are doubling down.

Summer fun starts here. Somerville families are invited to the 2026 Summer Activities Fair to enjoy free pizza and learn about summer programming available for local children. The 2026 activities fair will take place on Thursday, March 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Somerville Community School (50 Cross Street). 

Free Trees Available for Somerville Residents Through MyRWA Program

Dreaming of warmer days and a yard in full bloom? In preparation for spring, Somerville residents can apply for a free tree to be planted in their yard through the Mystic River Watershed Association’s (MyRWA) Tree Planting Program. All Somerville residents are invited to apply (for renters, with landlord permission). Sign up now through Friday, March 13.

The City of Somerville and the Somerville Redevelopment Authority (SRA) have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an experienced development team to redevelop 90 Washington Street, a nearly four-acre site located steps from the East Somerville MBTA Green Line station.
