What is the Somerville Fair Housing Commission?
The Fair Housing Commission works to ensure that all current and prospective Somerville residents have equal access to housing, free from discrimination and prejudice. The FHC plans annual educational events, reviews complaints submitted, does tabling at community events, and meets with City of Somerville legislative staff on fair housing issues.

Residents should please note that motor vehicle excise tax bills for 2026 are being sent one month earlier this year. Bills will issue on January 26, 2026, and are due February 25, 2026.

Somerville invites community members to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the City’s annual MLK Day Celebration taking place on Saturday, January 17. Youth are also invited to submit a short essay on Dr. King to the MLK Jr. Youth Essay contest by the January 12th deadline.
