SOMERVILLE –Somerville is seeking
a new police chief and the City wants to hear from the community what
characteristics and qualities they would like to see in a new chief, with a
public hearing scheduled for March 5 and a survey that will be available both
online and in hard copy.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced this week, beginning with a public
hearing last week and the recent formation of the Police Chief Selection
Committee. Kicking off the process with its first organizational meeting, the
Committee will meet over the course of several months to review candidates and
select finalists to submit to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for
consideration.

a special event to introduce the work of the commission and the active role of

SOMERVILLE
- Somerville homeowners would receive the highest property tax exemption in the
state under a proposal submitted by Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone to the Board of
Aldermen this week, and the City continues to explore increasing exemptions for
seniors, veterans, widows and those with disabilities that are already double
the state limits.
