Somerville to Host Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on June 5
Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Office of Health and Human Services are inviting all community members to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month at the annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the City Hall Concourse (93 Highland Ave.).
The event will feature remarks from Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, City LGBTQ+ Services Coordinator Izzy Starr, and youth representatives from Somerville’s LGBTQ+ community. Live ASL interpretation will be available.

Pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, this meeting of the Condominium Review Board will be conducted via remote participation.

Somerville Investigating Fire at 115 Sycamore Street
Former Site of Winter Hill Community Innovation School Unoccupied at Time of Incident; Community Members Encouraged to Share Any Information
On Monday, May 12, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Somerville Fire Department and Somerville Police Department responded to a reported fire at the former for the Winter Hill Community Innovation School (WHCIS) on Sycamore Street. The building is currently unused.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke throughout the building and located three separate fires inside the school. The fires were quickly extinguished. No injuries have been reported. The extent of the damage to the building remains under assessment.
