The City's annual Shape Up Somerville/ Somerville Recreation Road Race will expand for its 5th annual race, jumping from a 2.7-mile road race to a fully-certified 5K. On Sunday, April 13, starting and ending at the Somerville High School concourse, events will begin with a 1-mile children's "Fun Run" at 10:30 a.m., followed by a 5K race at 11a.m.

The City has ended negotiations with Tufts University on their proposed project for redeveloping the former Powder House School site due to Tufts inability to meet the project timeline. At this public meeting, which was originally scheduled to discuss the Tufts proposal, we will discuss this new developement in the process along with next steps for moving forward with an alternative proposal.

walk-around and open houseOn Saturday, March 22, the city will host members of the Somerville's Greek Community in their celebration of Greek Independence Day. The celebration starts on the concourse at noontime with the raising of the Greek flag and laying a wreath at medal of honor recipient George Dilboy's bust, followed by a cultural event in city hall.
