Public Gardening: Invasive Plant Identification & Removal

Calling all environmental stewards: learn how to identify and remove the invasive plants that are trying to take over your community!

In this workshop, you will: learn why invasive species are harmful to native ecosystems, identify common invasives in Somerville, and practice hands-on invasive removal!

Brickbottom Plan Open House

We are hosting an Open House to discuss the new version of the Brickbottom Small Area Plan. We encourage all area residents and workers to drop by and share their thoughts and questions with one of our team members. Ice cream will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis! There will be no formal presentation.

Gardening with Kids: Pollinator Pals

Toddlers, preschoolers, and parents of toddlers and preschoolers! Do you want to learn about the pollinators that live in your own community? Come to South Street Farm to explore the wonders of nature. We'll read a book about pollinators, explore the growing space, and plant some seedlings that you can take home with you!

2022 Union Square Farmers Market

Join your favorite local food producers for the 18th Annual Union Square Farmers Market! Shop local every Saturday from May 14-October 29 from 9am-1pm on the Union Square Plaza. We certainly hope pandemic conditions improve over the season, but starting on May 14 we will have a COVID-conscious masked shopping hour at each Market from 9-10am.

This construction meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to hear an overview of the Somerville I-93 Viaduct Bridge Preservation Project including project overview, schedule, and traffic impacts beginning in June 2022. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments.

Pathways to Citizenship: Beginner ESOL/Civics Class

Music & Munch Program (Council on Aging)

This 45-minute session via Zoom will treat you to a playlist of diverse musical offerings: a little jazz, some "oldies but goodies," a smidgen of classical, a dip into barbershop, a trip to Broadway. The music is taped but the experience is live. Your guide is Somerville Resident, Laura Zoll, trained as a medieval musicologist and with a life-long love of all things musical.
