East Somerville Family Scavenger Hunt (Part of May Preservation Month)

A family-friendly event, especially for elementary school kids and their guardians. Explore what makes our city tick and find urban artifacts identified by local artist/drainspotter Daniel Fireside. Solve the clues and earn fun prizes!

The scavenger hunt will meet at the East Branch Library and will end at the East Somerville Community School (with complimentary refreshments)

Family Walking Tour in East Somerville (Part of May Preservation Month)

Scavenger hunt will use manhole covers identified by local artist, plus other urban artifacts, to explore Somerville history and what makes our city tick. Designed for youth and their families. Start and ending points TBD.

Mystic River Herring Run and Paddle

Join over 400 runners and paddlers at the 23rd annual Mystic Herring Run and Paddle—a race for everyone!  Select from the 5K road race and/or a three-mile, nine-mile, or twelve-Mile paddling races. Compete in both the paddling race and running race and be eligible for the Iron Herring Award!

Housing Discrimination Tester Training

HDTP is seeking individuals who are willing to serve as housing discrimination testers. A tester is someone who attempts to rent an apartment and then provides an objective and unbiased report on the treatment received during the housing search. HDTP uses the information gathered by testers to see if renters are treated differently on the basis of a protected category.
