Celebrate the season at “Strike Up The Bands,” the September installment of the City’s SomerStreets festival, on Sunday, Sept 18, from 2 to 6 p.m. between School St. and Lowell St. on Highland Ave.
The Evolution of Hip Hop Festival was created to share positive hip hop music and spoken word with people of all ages, & share the history of hip hop music and what it brings to our communities. The festival will include musical performances by local artists, spoken word performances, vendors, and hands-on activities.
Everyone is welcome! Books are available at the Somerville Public Library – Main Branch. Ask for the COA book at the circulation desk, they will check the book out on your library card.
First observed in 1979, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is a day to honor returned prisoners of war and those members of the U.S. military, as well as civilians, who are still missing and unaccounted for from past wars. The day also serves to support ongoing search efforts for the missing.

The City's annual vigil walk, in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 6 p.m. The vigil will begin with a procession from the Cedar Street end of the Community Path, and conclude with a short ceremony in Davis Square. The entire Somerville community is invited to participate.
