About the Engineering Division

The Engineering Division is responsible for maintaining all of the engineering plans, drawings, field books, and other records relating to City-owned infrastructure, with the exception of school buildings. The Division provides these documents to architects, surveyors, engineers, contractors, and residents to aid them in planning development and repair work, and reviews private development proposals to ensure compliance to the City’s standards and sound engineering design. The Division provides the City’s EPA, DEP, and MWRA compliance reports, “Dig Safe” tracking, and engineering advisory services to boards, agencies, and the general public.
