The City of Somerville will soon offer residents the opportunity to invest in Somerville’s future by purchasing minibonds. Minibonds not only allow purchasers to directly support the community’s collective goals by investing in the financing of some of Somerville’s capital projects, they also enable residents to earn tax-exempt interest.

Somerville Media Center is offering two workshops with experienced grant writer and educator Ellen Gugel. The workshops are geared to non-profit professionals, artists and community members who are interested in learning how to research applicable grants and create successful proposals.
Info Session & Public Hearing on Proposed FY19 Water and Sewer Rates

The Director of the Water & Sewer Department will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Somerville High School Cafeteria, 81 Highland Avenue, at 6:00 pm.  The purpose of this hearing is to compile testimony from Somerville rate payers relevant to the setting of the Fiscal Year 2019 water and sewer rates.  Anyone interested in providing testimony is welcome to attend

ResiStat is more than a great way to get an overview of what’s happening specifically in your neighborhood as well as citywide.

Walking Tour: Gilman Square and East Somerville: Historical Look Before the GLX Arrives

Ed Gordon, President of the New England Chapter of the Victorian Society in America, will lead a lively walking tour of historic buildings and landscapes already undergoing many changes. Co-sponsored with East Somerville Main Street. Meet at City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue. End at Vinny’s Ristorante, a neighborhood institution at 76 Broadway, that is offering complimentary refreshments.

Somerville Youth Peace Conference
The conference features an all-original show with theater, spoken word, music, and speeches.  The Youth Organizers and Associates have been working to create a powerful show to address the issues that youth face in Somerville, and to bring the community together.

First Seasonal Public Opening of Prospect Hill Tower

Enjoy the first major project completed using the City’s Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds -- stabilization work on the Tower. Local historian, Larry Willwerth will tell stories about “The Lesser Known History of Prospect Hill,” along with other volunteer docents in period clothing. Only heavy rain cancels.
